Driver in custody after hitting pedestrians near Strawberry Festival

Posted on July 1, 2016 1:07 pm under Truck Accident

On Sunday, June 26th , one person was taken into custody by Cedarburg police after striking two people with a vehicle following the Strawberry Festival.

The crash involved two vehicles near the intersection of Western Road and Washington Avenue. Following the crash, one of the vehicles continued on to the sidewalk, hitting two pedestrians in the process. Both pedestrians were taken to the hospital, but no one was killed as a result of the incident. One witness said,”I heard a loud crash. I saw at least two women flying through the air.”

Cedarburg Police Sgt. John Stroik told reporters that the driver of a white pickup truck was arrested at the scene. The man can be seen in a witness’ video footage yelling “I’m diabetic.” Officials could not confirm such details at the time, but they say alcohol does not seem to have played a part in the accident.
