One person was killed in an accident involving one deer and two cars in the evening of July 4, on USH 12 in Sumpter.

The investigation revealed that a 2014 Chevrolet Malibu was headed north on USH 12 when a deer entered the road. The driver struck the deer, sending it airborne in the path of 2007 Buick Allure that had been traveling south. The Sauk County Sheriff’s Office stated that the deer had gone through the windshield of the Buick and struck the driver, giving him life-threatening injuries. He was treated at the scene and taken to the hospital, but to no avail as he was pronounced dead by UW Hospital staff. The accident remains under investigation.
