Posted on July 26, 2016 12:06 pm under Truck Accident

46-year-old Dean Hinton of Wellsburg crashed into the Mississippi river on Friday, July 1, near Clayton. The semi-truck driver lost control of his vehicle when he took a wrong turn and ran over railroad tracks into the river.

One of the eyewitnesses, Alyssa Purman, who was working near the crash, stated, “We heard this big noise, so we looked out the window, and all the sudden, we saw this big semi going airborne right into the Mississippi, and that’s kind of all we saw, and it just submerged right under water.”

The truck had been completely covered with water before responders were able to get to it to pull it out, but the Hinton had been pulled out by two Clayton residents and taken to the hospital. He did not sustain any life-threatening injuries.
