18-year-old Brandon Kohel faced charges late last month following the death of a Mosinee man, whose fatal injuries Kohel is responsible for. Michael M. Sybeldon and three others were involved in a crash along with Kohel, resulting in the death of Sybeldon and injuries, some serious, for the others.
The crash occurred on Highway KK on August 11, 2015, at 1:55 p.m. and according to court documents, Kohel had been attempting to pass another vehicle in a no-passing zone, driving at 63 m.p.h., and also headed into a curve. Both Sybeldon, who was the driver of the other car, and Kohel swerved to avoid hitting one another, colliding on the shoulder. One passenger in Sybeldon’s car faced serious injuries, requiring pins and mesh inserted in her back to repair broken bones.
Kohel was charged with first-degree reckless homicide and two counts of first-degree reckless injury on July 28.
