A press release from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation showed that traffic fatalities in July 2016 were 21 deaths higher than the data in July 2015 and six more than the five-year average for the month of July. Preliminary statistics showed that 60 individuals lost their lives in vehicular accidents in Wisconsin last month, which was deemed the deadliest month in terms of vehicular accidents in the state so far this year.
Vehicular accident fatalities through the first months of the year up to July were 48 more than during the same period in 2015 and 48 more than the five-year average.
WisDot bureau of transportation safety director David Pabst said the most common causes of traffic accident deaths are drunken driving crashes.
