In a misguided attempt to protect her owner, a cat named Baby attacked a pitbull that approached without warning on Monday, August 15. The 78-year-old owner of the cat, Betty Jean Thompson, said that while she was aware the dog was approaching with no malicious intent, her cat was startled and trying to protect her.

The owner of the pitbull, who was walking with six other dogs through a group known as Pit Bulls of Victoria B.C., received several cuts and bites of her own as she separated the dog and cat, sending her to the ER. Thompson paid the $222 veterinarian bill for the dog that was attacked.
