Posted on September 2, 2016 9:58 am under Defective medical products

Sage Products of Cary, Illinois, expanded their recall of topical skin cloths from all distribution levels worldwide after finding potential Burkholderia cepacia bacteria contamination in specific lots.

Product Description: containers of single-use and disposable damp cloths that would have been distributed between August 2014 and August of this year. The names of affected products are Comfort Shield Barrier Cream Cloths, Incontinence Clean-Up Cloth, M-care Meatal Cleansing Cloths for the Foley Catheterized Patient, Comfort Bath Cleansing Washcloths, and 2% Chlorhexidine Gluconate Cloths.

Contaminated products can cause severe infections in people with already weak immune systems like hospital patients or similar. Healthcare facilities and retail customers should immediately stop the use of the product and contact Sage Products for a refund.
