Janesville collision kills 89-year-old Milton woman

A car crash in Janesville killed an 89-year-old woman from Milton Wednesday, August 31st.

Police responded to the scene at the intersection of E. Racine Street and Midland Road near St. Mary’s Hospital around 3 p.m. According to the report, a vehicle traveling westbound on E. Racine Street turned left into the path of an oncoming truck. The two cars collided and sent both vehicles off the road to hit another car, which was stopped at the exit of the hospital.

The passenger in the vehicle that was turning was pronounced dead at St. Mary’s Hospital. Her identification is withheld awaiting notification of family members. The operator of the vehicle that was turning and the truck driver were admitted to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the car that was stopped at the hospital exit was treated and released.

The driver who caused the crash was cited for failing to give right of way while making a left turn, resulting in the death of another.
