Disconnected power line damaged east Madison home

Posted on October 3, 2016 1:34 pm under Fires and Explosions

An electric cable was cut in the east Madison, resulting in $2,000 of damage to a home in the area.

The Madison Fire Department was called just before 5 a.m. to the 5100 block of Maher Avenue where they found the end of the detached power line laying across a shed. MG&E was called immediately to stop power to the line, but they were busy and an hour passed before they were able to.

During this time, firefighters made sure the neighboring residents stayed inside their homes and try not to touch anything outside. Once the power was shut off, the firefighters were able to cool the shed and provide a few immediate fixes. They assisted the homeowner in removing their belongings.
