A man was arrested for drunk driving very early on Saturday, September 24 following an accident along Highway 11 that killed one person and injured two, one of which was the intoxicated driver.
The crash occurred right before 2 a.m. when John Drew Brewington, 23, left the westbound lane into the eastbound lane in his GMC Savannah van, striking a Lexus driven by Cameron J. Paddock, severely injuring him.
Paddock was taken immediately to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival. Paddock’s passenger, Monika L. Gorham, 23, was taken to the same hospital as Brewington with only minor injuries. Both were released on the same night.
Brewington was arrested upon release from the hospital and he faces tentative charges of homicide through the intoxicated use of a motor vehicle. This charge faces a maximum sentence of 25 years in prison as well as a $100,000 fine.
The attorneys of Habush Habush & Rottier S.C. ® send their deepest condolences out to the family and friends of the victim. We know how dangerous driving drunk can be and urge everyone to designate a driver.
