Two people and their seven pets have found themselves homeless following a fire at their home that caused smoke damage and completely destroyed their garage.
The fire occurred on Wednesday, October 5, when the two occupants were not home. Neighbors made the call to emergency services, prompting firefighters and paramedics to arrive at the 5600 block of Rustic Woods Drive home just before 11 a.m. The garage was fully engulfed upon their arrival and three of the pets, one dog and two cats, were rescued during the initial search. The remaining cats were retrieved by the homeowners later and all are healthy.
A neighboring home was slightly damaged in the fire and across the two properties, the total damage totaled near $100,000. As the homeowners were not home at the time, the investigation is ongoing to determine what caused the fire.
