The person believed to be responsible for a fire on Friday, October 7 in Madison had been arrested following the arrival of emergency crew.
The fire was reported around 9 p.m. but when the Madison Fire Department arrived at the West Beltline Highway office building, the building’s automatic sprinklers had extinguished the fire.
The Madison Police were sent into the building to investigate the scene and, though most of the damage was located on the fifth floor, a suspicious item was found on the floor above. Shortly after finding the item, the police came across the person they believed may have been connected to the fire.
The investigation is still ongoing concerning the origin of the fire. Though there is no accurate estimate of the cost of the damage, the building was home to multiple businesses whose electronics and computers were destroyed.
