Mislabeled Oreo cookies recalled

Posted on November 2, 2016 12:48 pm under Food Defects

Snack company Mondelēz Global LLC recently issued a recall on their Oreo cookies sold nationwide due to concerns that some people may suffer an allergic reaction from the unidentified milk in the ingredients, an October 31 article of Food Safety News stated.

Reports revealed that the mint and original flavors of “Oreo Fudge Cremes” contain milk ingredients not written on the packaging. Milk is considered an allergen that can cause serious allergic reactions to consumers who are sensitive to it. The recall was issued after the USFDA and Mondelēz Global received a complaint regarding the affected products. Consumers were advised not to consume the recalled Oreo cookies, which were manufactured from August to October, and to notify Mondelēz for more information.
