A car crash on a Columbia County interstate left one person dead and hurt five others early Monday morning.
The collision occurred at around 3:00 a.m. on I-90. The driver of a Nissan Quest in the westbound lane swerved to avoid a deer carcass. The driver unfortunately oversteered, and then overcorrected, causing the car to slide out of control and roll onto its side.
One of the Quest’s passengers was ejected from the van and died. The driver was treated for non-life threatening injuries. Four other individuals were hurt in the accident. They were all wearing seat belts and also sustained non-life threatening injuries. The fatality in the accident was not wearing a seat belt.
