While cutting firewood with his wife near the Village of Richfield on Friday, November 11, a man was hit in the head with a log.

A resident of the village was the one to contact the Washington County Sheriff’s Office to ask that an ambulance be sent out. Emergency officials had to hike into a wooded area near the village to find the 65-year-old Oconomowoc man, reported to have a severe head injury. Due to the nature of the injury, Flight for Life was dispatched.

Due to the location of the man, however, he had to travel some place by ambulance before the Flight for Life team was able to land and pick him up. After this, he was taken to Froedtert Hospital and is expected to survive. No foul play is suspected, as it was found that a large branch of the dead tree he had been cutting fell onto the man.
