Product Recall: Shearer’s Foods LLC Recalls Snack Chips

Posted on December 12, 2016 4:37 am under Defective Food Product

Ohio-based Shearer’s Foods LLC announced that it’s recalling five brands of snack chips due to salmonella contamination.

According to Food Safety News, the recall includes Deep River, Delish, Larry the Cable Guy, Essential Everyday, and Market Essential products. The recall was initiated after an announcement from Valley Milk products stating a possible contamination with salmonella, an organism that, when consumed by humans, can cause fatal infections.

Valley Milk Products is a manufacturer of powdered milk ingredients which are used in a variety of seasoning in Shearer’s Foods LLC snack chips. More than million pounds of powdered milk were seized by US Marshals after the company’s facility tested positive for salmonella.

Consumers can determine whether a product was produced by Shearer’s Foods by checking the information on an item’s label. FDA urges the consumers to dispose the affected products/items immediately.
