NY home blast possibly caused by leaking propane

A house in New York state was leveled after a propane tank exploded.

Based on the gathered information, investigating authorities believe that a leaking propane tank could be the cause of a recent explosion that leveled a house, a December 12 article of ABC News reported.

No one was reportedly injured in the blast, which occurred at approximately 6:05 a.m., as its occupants were not home at the time. The residents told investigators that they had notified their propane supplier they had smelled what they thought was propane earlier in the weekend.

Orange County Department of Emergency Services Commissioner Brandon Casey told reporters that the leak possibly caused a pocket of propane gas to be trapped in the home, which then ignited. Aside from local authorities, the private propane supplier is also expected to conduct its own investigation.
