A fire broke out in a residential area on 83rd near Sheridan Avenue that displaced eight people on Christmas Eve, reports say.

Milwaukee firefighters were dispatched to the area after receiving a call about a house fire Saturday afternoon. When they arrived, the building was already engulfed in flames. Firefighters declared the incident under control after performing aggressive measures to contain the fire.

One firefighter was injured after being bitten by a dog. At least eight people and nine dogs were displaced as a result of blaze. The fire left massive damage of at least $35,000.

Local authorities were called onto the scene to determine the cause of fire. Preliminary investigation shows that the blaze started when a candle was knocked over.
