A multi-vehicle accident killed two people and injured five on Highway 93 near Knudtson Valley Road on Sunday, January 1.
Authorities responded to the scene after receiving a call about a collision on Highway 93. According to the report, a white 2013 Chrysler 300 was traveling in the southbound lane of the highway when it crossed the center line and crashed into a passing Honda Accord. The Chrysler continued on and struck a 2012 Ford Edge.
The impact of the collision killed two Chrysler passengers instantly. They were identified as Lizbeth Gonzales, 19, and Leslie Flores, 18. Its driver, Josue Cruz Escobar, 30, and another passenger sustained serious injuries and were listed in critical condition upon arrival at the Mayo Clinic Health System. The Ford driver, Joregette Pronschinske, and another passenger, John Pronschinske, 63, were seriously injured, while the Honda driver was rushed to a hospital with minor injuries. Investigations by the authorities into the cause of the crash are ongoing.
