The Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District, a state entity run by tax-dollars, will have to pay $624,000 in damages as well as attorney's fees to a local business, E-L Enterprises, Inc. The business filed suit against the Sewerage District in 2004, alleging that while it was constructing its sewage line underneath the business's building, it had damaged the building's foundation. In 2007, a jury ruled that the sewage line drained water and caused wood to rot, leading the building to settle.
