What if the dog owner knew their pet was aggressive?

If it can be shown that the owner of a dog who bit, attacked, or otherwise injured someone else was aware that their pet had previously caused injury to others, they must pay double the amount of damages to which they would normally be liable. This is intended to discourage irresponsible owners from acting in a reckless or negligent manner in the future and allowing their pets to hurt others.

If you would like to know more about how you can receive the compensation you need for medical expenses and other costs resulting from a dog bite, please contact the Milwaukee dog bite attorneys of Habush Habush & Rottier S.C. today at 800-242-2874.

What is “strict liability” in dog bite cases?

The state of Wisconsin’s dog bite laws are known as “strict liability” laws, which means that the owner of a dog may be held liable for any injuries caused by their pet. In the past, some states operated on a standard which exempted pet owners from liability if their dog had never shown aggressive tendencies prior to a first attack. However, strict liability laws allow the dog bite victim to pursue compensation regardless of whether or not the attack was the first.

If you would like to know more about Wisconsin’s dog bite liability laws and what you can do to get the compensation you deserve, contact the Milwaukee dog bite lawyers of Habush Habush & Rottier S.C. today at 800-242-2874.
