Located in central Wisconsin, Stevens Point has a population of 26,717, making it the largest city in Portage County. This resourceful community, originally settled in the 1840’s, was known for constructing its buildings out of the readily available wood in the area. Today, the locally sourced tradition continues as many of the downtown buildings are constructed of limestone from nearby Lake Superior.

Fox Theater

The recently rebuilt town square in downtown Stevens Point is host to many of the area’s events such as the Annual Riverfront Rendezvous, Corn on the Curb, Sculpture Park Summer Celebration, Krazy Days, and Gather at the River. The over 100-year-old farmer’s market is also held in the historic downtown area. The city is also home to the University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point.

In 2007 and 2008, Stevens Point was listed in the Top 10 Best Places to Live by Relocate-America and has regularly placed in the top 100 since 2003. In 2009, CNNMoney.com ranked the city as the 18th best place to retire due to the variety of outdoor activities offered throughout the year.
