About Dan Rottier
Daniel Rottier is the President of Habush Habush & Rottier which has 13 offices located throughout Wisconsin. In addition to managing the firm, Dan handles complex medical malpractice and product liability cases. While practicing primarily in Wisconsin, his career has brought him to courts in 18 other states, and to the United States Supreme Court.
Dan grew up on a farm in West De Pere, Wisconsin, and attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison as an undergraduate, where he obtained an honors degree in English. He also spent a semester studying at the United Nations. Law school followed at the University of Wisconsin, where he graduated in 1976.
His career began in an era where many more cases were tried to jury than we see today. By 1990, Dan had tried 100 jury trials and was the youngest fellow inducted to the International Academy of Trial Lawyers, an organization whose membership is limited to 500 trial lawyers in the United States. In the same year, he was inducted into the American Board of Trial Advocates. Two years later (1992), he was inducted into the American College of Trial Lawyers. He’s been certified as a civil trial advocate by the National Board of Trial Advocates since 1982 and has been listed in the Best Lawyers in America for more than 20 years. His most significant honor was being invited to membership in the Inner Circle of Advocates in 2009. This group is limited to the top 100 plaintiff trial lawyers in the United States.
Dan has served as president of the Wisconsin Association for Justice, as well as its educational arm, the Civil Justice Foundation. He served on the Board of Governors of the American Association for Justice, Wisconsin Association for Justice, and the State Bar of Wisconsin, where he also served as chairman of the litigation section. In 2008, he was named Trial Lawyer of the Year by the Wisconsin Association for Justice. He also serves on the Board of Visitors at the University of Wisconsin Law School. In 1991, he successfully represented a Korean War veteran before the United States Supreme Court in Molzof v. United States, insuring the availability of future medical funds for this army veteran.
Dan has taught trial advocacy at the University of Wisconsin Law School for many years and is a frequent lecturer on trial practice techniques and the use of technology in litigation. He has been lead counsel on 88 cases resulting in awards over a million dollars, and nine cases over ten million dollars, four of which were jury verdicts. Dan resides in Madison with his wife, Frankie.
Timothy Trecek Named 2019 Best Lawyers ® “Lawyer of the Year”
November 30, 2018 (Milwaukee) – Timothy Trecek has been recognized as the “Lawyer of the Year” Milwaukee for Product Liability Litigation-Plaintiff in the 2019 edition of Best Lawyers in America. Mr. Trecek, a partner of Habush Habush & Rottier, S.C., has been dedicated to representing people who are injured through no fault of their own. His selection as Lawyer of the Year reflects the high quality of his work, as well as his professionalism and personal integrity. This is the third time in the last five years that Mr. Trecek has received this designation, having first been named Lawyer of the Year in 2015, then again in 2017.
About Timothy Trecek
Mr.Trecek is a graduate of Marquette Law School. He is a shareholder and has been a member of the law firm since 1995. He is a managing partner of both the Milwaukee and West Bend offices. Tim specializes in all types of personal injury litigation. He has successfully litigated cases involving automobile defects (airbags, seatbelts, seats and structural integrity), construction accidents, misfiled prescriptions, car/motorcycle accidents, truck/semi accidents, slip/trip and falls, dog bites, injuries involving horses, brain injuries, RSD (reflex sympathetic dystrophy), machine defects (saws, chippers, cement mixer defects, deer stands, snow blowers), child car seats, personal watercraft, and specialized experience with serious burn injuries from events such as explosions and utility/electrical accidents. In 2011, the Wisconsin Association for Justice selected Tim as the annual recipient of the prestigious Robert L. Habush Wisconsin Trial Lawyer of the Year Award. Additionally, he was named as one of Wisconsin’s Leaders in the Law in 2008 by the Wisconsin Law Journal. In 2013 Tim was accepted as a Fellow in the prestigious American College of Trial Attorneys, one of the youngest recipients of this venerable honor. Tim was requested by the Chief Justice of the Wisconsin Supreme Court to serve two terms on the District 2 Committee of the Office of Lawyer Regulation.
Since 2005, Tim has been teaching an Advanced Trial Practice course at Marquette University Law School. He has given speeches to other lawyers on a variety of legal topics. Using his experience in child car seat defect cases, he has given presentations to parents of pre-school children concerning the safe use of child car seats. He is also a Fellow in the International Society of Barristers and is a member of the invitation only Litigation Counsel of America. Additionally, Tim has been recognized on the Wisconsin Super Lawyers list each year since 2006, making the Wisconsin Top 10 list in 2014. In 2016, he was once again named to the Top 25 Milwaukee list and was also named on the Top 50 Wisconsin list. Recently, Tim was elected to the Legal Aid Society of Milwaukee’s Board of Directors. The Legal Aid Society of Milwaukee is one of the nation’s oldest, continuously operating, public interest law firms.
Although he was born, raised, and works in southeastern Wisconsin, Tim has earned a national reputation as a successful plaintiff’s trial lawyer. Tim’s successes have been so noteworthy that they have been chronicled in papers such as the Boston Globe, the Washington Post, the Fort Worth Star Telegram, the Minneapolis Star Tribune, the San Francisco Chronicle and dozens of other publications. Tim is also actively involved in his church and the community.
