Wisconsin State Patrol investigators are trying to determine what caused a car carrying 3 high school seniors to swerve into oncoming traffic Monday morning.
The three seniors were coming back from an outing in the Wisconsin Dells. They were originally going to return home on Saturday but decided to delay their departure to avoid driving in the awful snowstorm that occurred. The road was still wet Monday morning but was not snow-covered.
The car they were in swerved into oncoming traffic directly into the path of an SUV. Two of the three boys were not wearing seatbelts. Investigators doubt that wearing seatbelts would have helped the outcome of the crash.
Saturday, the boys had been at a friend’s birthday party with a larger group of guys. They, wisely, decided to wait out the storm thinking that driving conditions would improve Sunday or Monday. They made the wise choice. All three were popular athletes that were college-bound.
