The victim of a single-car accident on Saturday has been moved from one hospital to another.
The accident, which occurred Saturday, involved the driver of a white Chevy Lumina losing control of his car and crashing through a guardrail. The driver then continued down the embarkment, crossed a road, and walked into the ice-covered Rock River. To reach the water, he had to break through roughly 2″ of ice. A witness to the accident used jumper cables to pull the man out of the icy river.
There were initial reports that said the car was burning. Police, when they arrived, said that there was no sign of a fire. They charged the driver with failure to control a vehicle and for driving without a seatbelt.
