The Chicago Transportation Authority (CTA) settled a lawsuit with the family of an 85-year-old woman who was severely injured in a derailment just over two years ago.

Elfa Lari suffered broken ribs, brain hemorrhaging, and other serious injuries as a result of the 2006 derailment of a Blue Line subway train operated by the CTA. The settlement, confirmed by CTA officials, awards $1.25 million to Lari.

The accident has led to some 100 lawsuits, many of which are still pending.
