Man injured after falling through floor

Posted on May 19, 2010 5:39 am under Premises Liability

A man was injured in Chippewa Falls, Wis., after trespassing into a burnt-out bar.

The injured man and three other men, all 24 years-old, entered what was formerly O’Connor’s Sports Bar, which had been bought by the county in 2007 due to back taxes. The city has purchased the building since then. Falling about 10 feet, the man plummeted to the basement of the bar after he entered through the back door. Police noted that, after a May 2002 fire, the bar no longer has a floor on its ground level.

The Chippewa Falls Police Department received a phone call from one of the men at 3:14 a.m., claiming that their companion had fallen, was breathing, was in pain, but was not moving. EMS were shortly dispatched to the scene to treat the injured man.

Tresspassing citations were handed out for all four men.
