Statue in Memory of Crash Victim to be Unvailed

A statue made in the memory of a 5 year-old Greendale girl killed in a Milwaukee car accident will be dedicated during an event near the accident site July 11.

Authorities say the event will include a balloon launch and ice cream social following the dedication. The event is in memory of Ava Zimmerman who died April 14 after being struck by a car driven by Anita Nalencz of Franklin. Ava’s mother, 29 year-old Tanya Zimmerman, sustained minor injuries in the crash.

The Milwaukee County district attorney’s office has not yet decided whether criminal charges will be filed, sources say.

The car accident occurred as Ava and her mother were walking with family members across Broad St. near the Northway intersection. The statue will be at the same location.
