A man from Milwaukee was killed in a truck accident Satruday.
According to officials with the Indiana State Police, 57 year-old Oleh Pyvovarov, of Milwaukee, was killed in a fiery two-truck accident on Indiana Toll Road near the South Bend/Noter Dame exit shortly after 5:30 a.m. Saturday. Police say Pyvovarov was traveling east in a 2006 Volvo semi-truck when it collided with another eastbound semi-truck near the 77-mile maker. The crash occurred when the second truck, a 2008 Freightliner semi, slowed in the eastbound driving lane and the rear of the trailer was struck from behind by Pyvovarov’s truck.
The driver of the Freightliner, 48 year-old Jorge Infante, of San Pablo, California, was not injured in the crash, police say. His passenger, 62 year-old Phillip Pascoe, of Upland, California, refused treatment at the scene, according to the accident report.
Pyvovarov’s cab and rig caught fire after the crash.
Both trucks were hauling produce at the time of the accident, police said.
