A dog bite lawsuit has been filed in Iowa after an infant was bitten by a neighbor’s dog in August.
According to Sioux City Police Lt. Rex Mueller, officials were called to the 2300 block of Douglas Street shortly after 7:00 p.m. on August 26 for a report of a dog bite. Mueller said a 19 month-old boy wandered into a neighbor’s yard and was bitten in the chest and lower extremities by a large husky-type dog. The child, Samuel Van Donslear, was transported to St. Luke’s Regional Medical Center with serious injuries.
Cheryl Van Donslear, Samuel’s mother, filed a lawsuit seeking damages for injuries her son suffered in the animal attack. The lawsuit contends Samuel sustained 45 puncture wounds, collapsed lungs, a bruised kidney, bleeding spleen, and trauma to his pancreas, as well as tears to his stomach and groin.
