A woman in Illinois filed a product liability lawsuit Friday against McDonald’s Corp., claiming she was injured by a piece of glass in a chicken sandwich.

According to Cook County Circuit Court documents, Vjolla Lecaj says she was injured after she bit into and chewed a large shard of glass that was unknowingly contained within a spicy McChicken sandwich that was purchased at a McDonald’s restaurant in Oak Lawn. The lawsuit contends that the restaurant failed to properly inspect and maintain the processing and cooking equipment as well as the sandwich to avoid injury. As a result, Lecaj sustained severe and permanent oral injuries, as well as great pain and anguish, the lawsuit says.

The 12-count lawsuit names the McDonald’s restaurant at 4817 W. 105th St. in Oak Lawn, McDonald’s Corporation, McDonald’s USA, LLC., and JDD Investment Company. Lecaj is seeking more than $600,000 in damages.
