A worker at a Racine County recycling plant was killed when his clothing apparently became tangled in machinery.
According to officials with the Racine County Sheriff’s Office, Kyle Wene worked at a plant in Rochester for Kenosha-based Green 46 Recycling. Wene was working on a conveyor belt used to process asphalt shingles for recycling. The conveyor belt apparently caught Wene’s clothing and choked him, sheriff’s spokesman Lt. Dan Klatt said.
Co-workers searched for Wene when they were at lunch and didn’t see him, according to Klatt. Authorities were contacted about the death shortly before 1:00 p.m. Tuesday. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration is investigating the death.
