An eight-year-old girl was injured in a Milwaukee car accident Wednesday.
According to officials with the Milwaukee Police Department, the mini-van the young girl was riding in was hit by a car driven by a woman who was texting behind the wheel. Police say the car crossed the center line before it collided with the on-coming mini-van head-on.
One other child in the mini-van sustained minor injuries in the accident. The eight year-old girl was transported to an area hospital where she was treated and released, police said.
The driver of the car, a 26 year-old Milwaukee woman whose name has not been released, suffered minor injuries in the collision and had to be extricated from her vehicle. Police said she denied texting at the time of the crash, but a witness said she had a cell phone in front of her face. Police said the phone had a partially-written text message on its screen. The woman was cited for texting while driving.
