Teen drivers more likely to crash during first month on the road

A recent study reveals that teenage drivers are more likely to be involved in a car accident their first month of driving legally on the road. This study was conducted by AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety and determined that teenagers are 50 percent more inclined to crash during the first month than they are in the entire first year of driving with a driver’s license.

Inexperience is the main reason why these motor vehicle accidents occur. It is recommended that parents stay involved in their teenager’s driving experience during this hazardous time. According to the study, when the teen is driving with a fellow teenager in their passenger seat they are more likely to crash than if they were in the car alone.

Car accidents are the leading cause of teenage deaths in the United States.
