Last week, BMW made an official announcement regarding an international recall.
The recall came after complaints of loose wiring were found to be accurate in 5-and6-Series models. These models, which were produced between 2004 and 2010, have battery boxes located in their trunks. The connector cables attached to these batteries may have been wired improperly in some cases.
This error could lead to numerous problems, including overheating, and fires. One known case of a fire has been reported in the United States. In total, 1.3 million vehicles were recalled by BMW, with 367,000 of those being located in the United States. Owners are now able to take their recalled vehicles to BMW dealers in their area to have the problem inspected.
