A large collision yesterday afternoon on Highway 151 near Fond du Lac killed one person and injured nine others after a driver crossed over into oncoming traffic and struck 10 motorcyclists.
The motorcycle accident happened around 3 p.m. near Welling Beach Road when the motor vehicle driver, a 25-year-old male, crossed over the center line on the highway and ran into a group of motorcyclists returning home after a trip. Ten out of the 12 motorcyclists in the group were involved in the crash.
One man was instantly killed at the site of the crash, and four other individuals, including the driver, were in critical condition and taken by helicopter to a nearby hospital for treatment. Five other motorcyclists sustained injuries in the collision, but they were not life-threatening.
The section of Highway 151 where the accident occurred was closed for numerous hours. A thorough investigation is taking place in order to determine the cause of the accident.
