Millions of electric dehumidifiers are being recalled due to overheating risks that may lead to fires, USA Today reported on September 12 said.
According to Consumer Product Safety Commission, over 2 million electric dehumidifiers, ranging in size from 20 to 70 pints and manufactured by Gree Electric Appliances, may overheat and potentially catch on fire. While no one has reportedly been injured by the recalled appliance, over $2 million worth of properties have been lost due to fire. T
he defective appliances were sold in the U.S. and in Canada from 2005 up to August 2013. Consumers are advised by the manufacturer to immediately unplug the defective dehumidifier and call them for a refund.
