Thousands of pressure assist flushing systems recalled due to explosion risk

Posted on February 1, 2014 2:00 pm under Product Liability

Over 300,000 high pressure toilet flush-assist systems sold in the U.S. and Canada by Flushmate were recalled due to parts that may explode, according to an article published on USA Today on January 23. Approximately 351,000 units were sold in the U.S., while 9,400 were sold in Canada.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission said the recall affects the Series 503 Flushmate 111 Pressure Assist, which has parts that may cause the entire tank to explode due to the force with which they can burst. There have been no injuries reported but reports of the parts exploding have reached Flushmate’s office.

To fix the issue, consumers who have the affected units are advised to stop using the flush-assist system and call Flushmate for a free repair kit.
