Airbag and seat belt malfunction prompts GM SUV recall

Posted on March 27, 2014 11:03 am under Automotive Defects

On March 17 General Motors Co. issued recall for 1.18 million SUVs with malfunctioning airbags and seat belts. The recall was prompted after numerous injury reports were sent to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

The Chevrolet Traverse, Saturn Outlook, Buick Enclave, and GMC Acadia SUV are affected by the most recent recall. Reports said the SUVs airbags may fail to deploy, which would prevent drivers and passengers from being protected in high-impact car accidents. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reportedly received seven injury reports involving the SUVs due to airbags that failed to work in accidents.
