The roller coaster involved in an accident last month will be closed by Mt. Olympus after state investigators discovered they violated several safety measures, according to a report published April 2.
According to the Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services (DSPS), some of the parts in the Opa! Rollercoaster were either defective or needed to be replaced. Investigators found that a lap bar malfunctioned due to some worn out parts. DSPS also discovered that the carriage in which Anthony Theisen was an occupant had exceeded the weight limit when the accident occurred.
Theisen, 63, was seriously injured on March 6 after he was ejected from the ride and fell 17 feet from the roller coaster.
