Walmart trucker in fatal crash drove at excessive speed

Posted on June 24, 2014 1:58 pm under Personal Injury

An initial report released by the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) stated that the trucker responsible for killing comedian James McNair and injuring Tracy Morgan, among others, was driving well above the speed limit, truckinginfo.com reported on June 19.

In the data being reviewed by the NTSB, Kevin Roper drove the Walmart semi-truck at 65 mph before it crashed into the back of the limousine van occupied by Morgan and his companions. The New Jersey Turnpike where the accident occurred has a reduced speed limit of 45 mph. Aside from the truck’s data, investigators also want to find out whether Roper slept adequately before the accident occurred. Roper pleaded not guilty to the charges against him.
