AAA: Drowsy drivers cause fatal accidents

New research conducted by the AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety found that more than expected vehicular-related accidents are caused by tired drivers.

The research revealed that at least 21 percent of deadly road accidents were caused by fatigued drivers, which is far more than current data from the NHTSA suggests. AAA CEO and President Peter Kissinger asserted how dangerous drowsy driving can be and further stated that 28 percent of drivers admitted to fatigued driving in the past month. Every year, at least one death results from 6,000 road accidents caused by drowsy drivers.
