Pennsylvania-based wet wipes maker Nutek Disposables has issued a consumer-level safety recall of ten brands of wipes after positive testing of a bacteria that may pose a health risk to susceptible individuals, The Chicago Tribune reported on October 27.

Products labeled under Cuties, Dipers.com, Femtex, Fred’s, Kidgets, Member’s Mark, Simply Right, Sunny Smiles, Tender Touch, and Well Beginnings were found positive for Burkholderia cepacia, a type of bacteria that can be dangerous for certain people, such as those with weakened immune system or chronic lung condition. The company tested the product after receiving complaints about discoloration and odor.

Consumers have already complained about different adverse effects, such as of infections, gastrointestinal disorders, fever, respiratory diseases and rash, although the company said these reports have not been confirmed to be associated with the affected products.
