German automaker giant Volkswagen issued two voluntary safety recalls after learning about a malfunctioning headlight software and a faulty fuel rail sealing cap that may cause accidents, a report by the Examiner stated on December 31.
The company said that starting January 15, it will recall more than 25,007 2015 Jetta units in the country due to a software glitch that causes the low beams not to employ when high beams are being used. The issue may cause the lights to dim too much, which increases the possibility of an accident.
Volkswagen also learned that 2014-2015 Beetle, Beetle Convertible, Passat and Jetta, and 2015 GTI and Golf vehicles have a sealing cap at the fuel rail that may not seal, causing the fuel to leak into the engine and possibly catch fire. The company said defective fuel rails will be replaced by the dealers with new parts at no cost.
