Northern Tier Bakery recalls doughnuts due to undeclared peanut ingredient

Posted on January 26, 2015 4:47 pm under Product Liability

Northern Tier Bakery LLC has announced it is recalling its Twix Bismarck doughnuts after learning about an undeclared peanut ingredient in the Twix topping, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration stated on Friday, January 16.

Twix Bismarck doughnuts are frosted doughnuts topped with a chopped Twix product. They were sold at different retail convenience stores in Wisconsin and Minnesota from January 1 to January 15. The toppings, which were sourced from a third party, may contain peanuts that could cause a severe allergic reaction in those who are sensitive to it.

Consumers may return the affected product to the place of sale for a product refund.

Several cases of anaphylaxis and other life-threatening allergic reactions have resulted from mislabeled or under-labeled food products.
