Lawmakers pursuing higher speed limit in Wisconsin

Posted on January 28, 2015 7:32 pm under Car Accidents

Wisconsin lawmakers recently are seeking to increase the driving speed limit in the state, a FOX 21 article reported on January 19.

From 65 miles per hour (mph), Wisconsin lawmakers in the legislative session are pushing to make the maximum speed limit on the freeways 70 mph. Representative Nick Milroy, who also showed support for the bill, stated that proper safety requirements would be their utmost concern in the attempt to increase the speed limit on freeways. On the other hand, Superior Police Deputy Chief Matt Markon explained that increasing the speed limit would result in drivers traveling far too fast, especially in a state where 25 percent of deadly vehicular accidents are caused by excessive speeding.
