Elderly couple killed by SUV driver

Posted on February 2, 2015 3:39 pm under Wrongful Death

FOX 11 reported on January 25th that an elderly couple was fatally struck by an SUV near their church last Sunday. The couple, Oscar and Vernetta Lang, had just attended a mass at St. Louis Catholic Church in Caledonia. Several young people witnessed the pedestrian accident.

According to early reports, the driver of an SUV, who had two children in her vehicle, struck the Langs just outside their church early Sunday. Neither the driver nor her children were injured in the crash, but Oscar Lang flew 150 feet and Vernetta Lang 50 feet after they were hit.

Parishioners who knew the Langs stood in shock at the accident. Three young girls are believed to have seen everything happen, and parishioners called paramedics as soon as they could. Paramedics were unable to revive Oscar or Vernetta.

Investigations are ongoing, but police do not think that alcohol was a factor in this case.
