External entrapment protection system, garage door’s ultimate safety feature

Posted on February 3, 2015 8:42 am under Product Liability

Due to the prevalence of injuries and deaths linked to defective garage doors, the Consumer Product Safety Commission ruled that all garage doors should have an external entrapment protection system to prevent any injurious or fatal incidents.

An external entrapment protection system is composed of sensors mounted on each of the door’s tracks. It acts as the eye of the garage door, prompting it to stop and reverse to avoid crashes. Any design or manufacturing defect on this safety feature may cause it not to work properly, and may result in injurious falls and crashes that might lead to fractured bones, spinal injuries, and sadly, death.

At Habush Habush & Rottier S.C. ®, we help Milwaukee residents whose properties and lives have been damaged because of a defectively designed and manufactured garage door seek the financial restitution they believe they are owed.
