Sports amphibian vehicles recalled for handlebar breakage

Gibbs Sports Amphibians is recalling more than 300 one-seater Quadski and two-seater Quadski XL after reports of a dysfunctional handlebar that may cause the operator to lose steering and braking control, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) reported on February 3.

The company learned about the issue after receiving three reports of handlebar failures during testing, including one in which the operator incurred a neck injury. The affected Quadski units have Hull Identification Numbers (HIN) between US-GSA601J213 and US-GSAJ1048C414, while the affected Quadski XL have HIN ranging from GSAJ5001J213 to US-GSAM5203H415. The HIN can be found at a plate at the rear right side of the vehicle.

The recalled units were manufactured in the U.S. and sold at Gibbs Sports Amphibians retailers across the country from January 2012 to October 2014.
