SCOTT bicycle helmets recalled after failing to meet impact requirements

Posted on February 20, 2015 3:08 pm under Bicycle Accidents

SCOTT issued a recall of its 2015 SCOTT Vanish Evo Helmets after learning that the helmets do not comply with the impact requirements set by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) for bike helmets, the CPSC reported on February 13.

Around 1,450 Vanish Evo black and grey and white and grey helmets are affected by the recall. The helmets have serial numbers that range from 2014-06/0009359 to 2014-09/027210. SCOTT dealers across the U.S. sold the defective bicycle helmets between July 2014 and December 2014. Affected consumers are asked to return the recalled product at any SCOTT dealership for a full refund.

Helmets are supposed to provide bike users the protection they need in case of an accident. However, a defectively designed and manufactured helmet might be injurious, and may even cost lives.
